Weekend Camping at Adventure Playground (Timberland Heights)

Tuesday, November 21, 2017

“Am I really going to do this?” I asked myself when I saw the deceptively steep trails of Adventure Playground at Timberland Heights in San Mateo, Rizal. It turns out, it was a whole lot more than a playground, but a 1.25 kilometer obstacle course of pure adrenaline. Everything was there in that compact area and it was no joke. The organizer of the Blogger’s Camp wasn’t even kidding when he said that we will all get dirty, muddy and will eventually crawl from exhaustation (all thanks to weeks of sedentary lifestyle lol!).
Before Baby Shark, there was Tatlong Bibe nursery rhyme ^_^
Developed inside the 677-hectare property of Filinvest Land Inc, Adventure Playground was recently introduced as the newest attraction of Timberland Heights. If you aren’t familiar with the municipality of San Mateo in the province of Rizal, it is actually a well-known mountain-bike destination with world-class trails certified by the International Mountain Bicycling Association.
there was a trick or treat event for kids when we were in Adventure Farm
I have lived in San Mateo all my life but I never really thought of it as a tourist destination. Our short yet thrilling experience at Adventure Farm gave me more than a glimpse of its mountain biking amenities and team building activities but also introduction to its agro-forestry facilities that advocate nature conservation. Timberland Heights is only a stone’s throw away from Quezon City (just a short tricycle ride from our home!), thus visitors do not need to go far to experience close-to-nature activities.
Hello there Caterpie! Going back to our Science class in grade school, Butterflies and moths spend their childhood as caterpillars.
Although one can’t just walk-in and experience Timberland Sports and Nature Club as it is a 'membership only' realty estate, you can still enjoy some of its amenities open to bikers and walk-in visitors. All you have to do is to register and leave your IDs with the guards on duty at the gate.

Mountain Biking Capital of the Philippines
For bikers, there are several trails you can choose from - the Wall, the Basic Trail, Green Trail, Blue Trail and the Black Diamond Trail. Most biking newbies often take the Basic Trail and the Wall. Blue Trail, on the otherhand, is the most famous and a favourite among experienced bikers. The Black Diamond Trail is said to be the hardest trail in Timberland and one of the most challenging biking trails in the Philippines.

Adventure Farm
For walk-in visitors, you can visit the Adventure Farm. Here, you can avail a guided tour of the butterfly sanctuary, organic farm, herb garden, fish lagoon, and vegetable greenhouse. At the end of the tour, you may harvest your own organic vegetables at the farm, or you may buy some fresh produce at the souvenir shop if you don’t want to get your hands dirty.
At the end of the tour, you can harvest vegetables at the organic garden.

Damong Maria is commonly found in warm countries like the Philippines. When I was still in college, I learned in Community Health Nursing that this herb is useful to treat wounds and cuts. Its decoction of dried leaves are also used for abdominal cramps after a woman gave birth.
Earthworms are highly underrated allies in an organic farm. At the mini organic farm of Timberland Heights, I learned that the worms help to make minerals available to your plants and also help your soil to retain water better.
they were so ready for the cameras! lol!
Adventure Playground
Have you heard of the country’s first Spartan race? Or the Spartan Race itself, the world's best obstacle course race? How about the Sandugo Camp Adventure? Well, these exciting outdoor events were held in Timberland Heights. Adventure Playground, the newest attraction of Timberland, was recently introduced and I was one of the bloggers who went through the 1.25 kilometere obstacle course. It was not a long obstacle course but its short distance is designed to challenge you physically.

Honestly, I was not prepared for it. I could have easily finished it if I wasn’t sedentary for weeks. Lol! In reality, it was only a short course and obstacles are suitable for athletes of all levels; from newbies to seasoned racers. While I could not really tell you what I went through that weekend (I was too tired haha!), I can assure you that it will pull you out from your comfort zone and physically challenge you. There will be mud, water and steep trails so expect to run, climb and crawl. :)

We were provided proper tents to keep us safe from the elements. Thank you so much BaseKamp and Sandugo! These BaseKamp Ridge 2 tent are priced at 3,650 pesos (it's currently on sale at 3,285 pesos!).
Urban Camping/Glamping
If you have no time to get out of the city for a weekend camping in the mountains, then Urban Camping/Glamping at the Adventure Farm is perfect for you! I’ve spent a ton of time in Timberland Heights for running but I had no idea that camping is allowed for visitors. Sleeping over the skyscrapers or sleeping under the stars at night? Urban camping at Timberland Heights offers the best of both worlds.
Could not stop laughing when I saw this photo LOL! We drank sago't gulaman that night because we don't have anything else to drink!
