Awesome Korean BBQ At Ummason Kimchi Korean Restaurant in Don Antonio, Quezon City

Monday, February 27, 2017

I’ve made it no secret. Korean BBQ is one of my favorites. I could not remember when was the first time I tried Korean Barbecue, but all I could remember was how amazing it was! I was really amazed with a large assortment of banchan given on the side, which is normal in almost all Korean restaurants. It was fascinating because I was so used to the basic traditional Filipino meal, which consists of two essential things: kanin (cooked rice) and ulam (main dish). If your ulam is dry (anything fried), then we would have a separate bowl for soup. That’s it. Kinda boring? Sometimes. Haha!

If you are not familiar with banchan, it is actually all the side dishes that comes with your meal like various kimchis (cabbage, cucumber, radish) and seasoned vegetables like steamed water spinach or bean sprouts tossed with sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, chili flakes and red bean paste. So, imagine my wide eyed fascination when I was served with so many side dishes for the first time :)
Why do I see Shin Min Ah in all water containers? haha
Last December, my friends and I have been looking for a good Korean Barbecue restaurant near our office in Quezon City. A simple search in Zomato led us to Ummason Kimchi Korean Restaurant. There were not so many reviews, but all of it said the place is a must try. With promising reviews like that, we had to try it out and I’m glad we did!
kimchi FTW!
Ummason Kimchi Korean Restaurant is at Don Antonio Heights, Batasan Hills, Quezon City.  In case you aren’t familiar, it is a small Korean place near Puregold Don Antonio and Korea Mart. It really is a hidden gem in Don Antonio.
I love that pickled cucumber :)
We were very satisfied on our first visit that we decided to pig out again last week! Haha! Ummason may not be the best Korean BBQ that I have tried, but I really like their banchan, a few selections of meats and service of the staff.
we requested for many garlic
I love that their steamed rice was sticky
thin slices of Samgyeopsal
Kimchi jigae (Kimchi soup)
look at that!
beef strips - It was a bit expensive so we did not order another serving
not sure what this was - looks like kimchi soup?
Korean BBQ is not complete without these
In a nutshell, we were well and truly stuffed. I will surely come back for a third time! Thank you so much Ummason for the very meaty meal! Do you have Korean restaurant recommendations? Leave a comment in this post, Facebook, Instagram (tag me in your food pics!), or email! Thanks for reading!
