Punta Verde Resort in Lobo, Batangas is set against a pristine pebble beach overlooking Isla Verde Passage – an ideal destination to enjoy a peaceful seaside vacation. “Sorry there is no wifi. Talk to each other and pretend it’s 1995,” says of one the signages in the resort. True enough, being on a weekend detox from Social Media made our short holiday more memorable. Instead of posting pictures on Facebook or Instagram, we were there busy talking just about anything we could think of.

About Punta Verde Resort
Punta Verde Resort is the kind of place that guests return to time and again to get experiences that remain etched on their memories. The resort is homely and familiar. An overnight staycation here feels like visiting a friend who happens to own a seaside resort. Owned by Nick and Linda Jimeno, the resort was originally built to be a family vacation home. With a shared love for nature and the sea, the family decided to share the resort to the world.
The View
The warm welcome begins with the wide open space of the resort’s pavilion that offers fleeting views of the ocean and infinity pool, accompanied by the sound of the crashing waves against the shore. The surrounding trees, the blue sky, and the native Filipino design of the lobby all collude to announce that your short holiday has officially started.
The Room
With 3 room categories ranging from superior to deluxe villas, each accommodation options are spacious with Spanish-influenced and Native Filipino designs that amplifies light and airiness. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning units and en suite toilet and bath with water heater. Breakfast is also included in the room rates.
Mulawin Villa, our home away from home, has two adjacent rooms (good for 6 persons per room) and an open-air veranda that can open up to connect both rooms. Adequately furnished, this villa is an effortless blend of Spanish and Filipino Native designs. In conformity with the resort’s theme, the rooms are decorated with native furnishings. The mattress is perfect – not too hard and not too soft. The bathroom is very basic but clean. Outside the room, there were wooden chairs, which afforded me a front row seat to take in the glorious garden view.

The Food
The resort has one restaurant and the food they serve was okay. The menu consists of all the usual Filipino favorites as well as some Western dishes. Please note, due to the remote location of the resort, pre-ordering is required. Since snacks and dinner are not included in the price of the accommodation, you may bring some baon before you go to the resort. It is, however, not allowed to bring in cooked food or use the resort’s kitchen for cooking.
There aren’t any other restaurants nearby so I think the resort can still improve its food department.
Resort Amenities and Facilities
In addition to their beautiful accommodations and superb ocean view, Punta Verde Resort provides a variety of facilities and services to make your stay memorable. They have a luxurious infinity pool with a spectacular view of Isla Verde Passage. At the side of the pool, you will find plenty of lounge chairs and tables for guests’ comfort. Refreshing drinks are also available from the restaurant.
Resort Activities and Other things to do
A weekend staycation in Punta Verde Resort will give you a peaceful retreat no matter what time of the year. If you are stressed out in the metro, you can stay for the weekend in the resort, where you can just laze around, sip on fresh buko juice, not worry about anything you have to do for the day. If you’re a weekend warrior and you would like to squeeze in a few tourist attractions while you’re in the resort, then you may visit the historic Malabrigo Lighthouse.
Overall Experience
Staying at Punta Verde Resort was indeed a great experience. That short vacation away from the noise of both the city and social media was pretty rejuvenating. My absolute favorite parts of the resort was the infinity pool and the pebble beach, which were the perfect places to watch the azure waves crash or the stars come out at night. Getting there took so long, but for me, it was truly worth it!

How to get to Punta Verde Resort
By Public Transportation
Option 1
- Board a bus (JAM Liner) bound for Batangas Pier from Cubao or Buendia Bus Terminal. One way fare is 165 pesos and travel time is 2 hours.
- Get off at Batangas Grand Terminal and board a jeepyney bound for SM Batangas. One way fare is 25 pesos.
- Get off at Jeepney Terminal going to Lobo (this terminal can be found at the back of the nearbychurch).
- From there, ride another jeepney going to Lobo Town Proper. One way fare is 55 pesos and travel time is 1 hour.
- Once in the town proper, make your way to Lobo Bridge where Punta Verde jeepney will pick you up. Roundtrip fare is 150 pesos per person and travel time is 30-45 minutes.
Option 2
- Board a bus (JAM Liner) bound for Lipa City Grand Terminal from Cubao or Buendia Bus Terminal. One way fare is 132 pesos and travel time is 1.5 hours.
- Board a van bound for Lobo. One way fare is 120 pesos and travel time is 1-2 hours.
- Once in the town proper, make your way to Lobo Bridge where Punta Verde jeepney will pick you up. Roundtrip fare is 150 pesos per person and travel time is 30-45 minutes.
By Private Car
By private car, it will only take 3-4 hours to get to Punta Verde Resort via Batangas Exit or Ibaan Exit. Do not use Google Maps or Waze when navigating because the road conecting Laiya and Lobo is stil,l under construction and currently impassable.
