URBAN ANGELS MISSION 2012
This is the first day of our mission and we headed to Brgy. Banago. If I'm not mistaken, it is only 30-45 minute drive from our hotel. So as expected, we were greeted by lines of people waiting to be examined by doctors and nurses.

8am Assembly outside the hotel
We had about 15 minute briefing with other volunteers and barangay health workers. Nurses were assigned in the triage area. Others were assigned to arrange patients according to their age. Majority of the patients are pediatric. Ang daming baby! Nakakaloka.
Eds and I assisting patients
As you can see, the venue is in the church. The place is instantly chaotic. Medyo dito kami nag struggle. The heat starts to intensify as we are still trying to arrange everything.

Aside from the fact that the venue is chaotic, we also struggle with the language. Diyos ko wala ko maintindihan sa pasyente ko! Minsan nga nag sign language na lang kami haha! Salamat na lang meron kaming kasamang bacolod volunteers :)

Most of the doctors saw a lot of cases of infections such as TB. A patient complained she's been experiencing cough for years but she never went to seek medical care. To think that DOH provides assistance to patients with TB thru DOTS, HOW COME THIS LADY NEVER SEEK HELP? Primarily because people are not aware. We lack health education especially in rural areas. Marami talagang binabalewala ang symptoms, akala nila simpleng ubo lang.
poor kid :(
We also provided a lot of puffers for pediatric patients who has asthma. We also found many cases of malnourished kids with worms. Waah! Meron naman pong health center mga nanay! It's so depressing to see these kids suffer at a very young age. Aba, pinangarap kong maging community health nurse, kaya gustong gusto ko pangaralan yung mga nanay. Kaso hindi kami magkaintindihan T_T
